Service Description
Scurry Dog Foundations is a six-week, in-person course and the official entry point into the Scurry Dog sport. It introduces dogs and handlers to the five core Scurry Dog games. At the same time, it is absolutely suitable for pet dogs whose owners want better focus, confidence, and practical life skills - no competition required. You do not need any previous sport or training experience to join this course. This class is suitable for first-time handlers, dogs new to structured training, and owners curious about Scurry Dog but not ready to commit to competition. All skills are taught from the beginning, with clear criteria and individual coaching built into each session. Group suitability: This is a small group course (maximum 6 dogs). Dogs must be able to work on lead around other dogs, take food or toys in a shared training space, and recover from excitement with guidance. If you’re unsure whether this environment is right for your dog, please get in touch before booking. What is Scurry Dog? Scurry Dog is a progressive, modular dog sport built around games based on Gundog training, these games develop engagement and emotional regulation, independent problem-solving, distance skills and spatial awareness, retrieve foundations, and scent work, memory, and persistence. It focuses on thinking, adaptability, and teamwork — not just obedience. Course structure (6 weeks) Week 1: General Foundations — engagement, play, reward markers, and arousal regulation Week 2: Retrieve Game — confident pick-ups, carrying, and returning objects Week 3: Scramble Grid Game — distance skills, placeboards, and sends Week 4: Nose Quest Game — searching, hunting, and problem-solving Week 5: Sniffit Trail Game — scent work, trails, and memory Week 6: Integration & Life Skills — linking skills, recall foundations, stops, and settling Progression & workbook Every participant receives a printed Scurry Dog Foundations workbook, including a Scurry Dog progression ladder, tick-off checklists for each game, and weekly progress tracking. This supports both sport progression and everyday life skills. Course details Duration: 6 weeks Group size: Maximum 6 dogs Investment: $350 per dog *$150 deposit to book, remainder due 48 hours before start date.* Includes: All classes, printed workbook, structured progression, individual coaching Location: Private Field, Tamborine (4270) Places are limited. If you cannot make a service you have booked you should notify us in writing as soon as possible on hello@animalhausbehaviour.com.au Cancellation: • More than 48 hours notice - you will receive a refund minus $70 administration fees unless a replacement attendee can be found. • Less than 48 hours - no refund is available unless the place in class/workshop can be filled by another paying attendee. If no replacement attendee can be found then your full fees will be non-refundable. Rescheduling / Transfers: Rescheduling or transferring into another service is dependent on available services and entirely at our discretion. Transfers are not available less than 72 hours before the commencement of your service. Reactive Dogs: Please note that unless otherwise stated in the service information, Scurry Dog classes and workshops are group sessions. This means that other dogs will be visible throughout the session. If your dog is anxious / nervous or reactive to other dogs or people this may not be suitable for them.
