Service Description
6-Week Small Group Course for Reactive & Sensitive Dogs Not every dog thrives in a standard group class. Spicy Dog Foundations is designed specifically for dogs who have big feelings — dogs who may bark, lunge, freeze, shut down, or become easily overwhelmed by their environment. This course provides a safe, structured, and supportive space where reactive and sensitive dogs can build confidence, develop focus, and learn how to regulate themselves more effectively. While the program is built on the Scurry Dog training framework, you do not need to be interested in Scurry Dog / Gundog training to join. The skills taught are practical, functional, and directly applicable to real-life, everyday situations. Ideal for dogs who: • React to dogs, people, or the environment • Become overstimulated or overwhelmed easily • Struggle with focus in busy settings • Need support with emotional regulation • Find typical classes too stressful No prior training experience is required for dog or handler. WHY SCURRY DOG SKILLS? Scurry Dog exercises are particularly effective for spicy dogs because they prioritise: ✔ Emotional regulation before performance ✔ Calm thinking over obedience pressure ✔ Confidence and problem-solving ✔ Engagement without conflict ✔ Gradual, thoughtful progression Rather than suppressing behaviour, we teach dogs skills that help them cope, think, and succeed. To support sensitive learners: • Maximum 4 dogs per class • Large 2500sqm private training space • Quiet location • Secure 6-foot fencing • Visual barriers & tailored setups available Each dog works at their own pace. WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON • Focus and engagement around distractions • Arousal regulation and recovery • Confidence building • Calm problem-solving behaviours • Practical life skills drawn from Scurry Dog games COURSE DETAILS Duration: 6 weeks Session length: 1 hour per week Investment: $350 per dog *$150 deposit to book, remainder due 48 hours before start date.* Includes: All classes, PDF workbook, structured progression, individual coaching Location: Private Field, Tamborine (4270) Optional support available: • Private lessons (before/during/after the course) • Out & About sessions (after course completion) Unsure if this class is suitable for your dog? Please see our full terms, conditions and indemnity waiver on our website here: https://www.animalhausbehaviour.com.au/t-c-s-page Scurry Dog Service Payment Policies: Full payment is due at the time of booking to secure your spot in your chosen class / workshop / course. If you cannot make a service you have booked you should notify us in writing as soon as possible on hello@animalhausbehaviour.com.au Cancellation: • More than 48 hours notice - you will receive a refund minus $70 administration fees unless a replacement attendee can be found. • Less than 48 hours - no refund is available unless the place in class/workshop can be filled by another paying attendee. If no replacement attendee can be found then your full fees will be non-refundable. Rescheduling / Transfers: Rescheduling or transferring into another service is dependent on available services and entirely at our discretion. Transfers are not available less than 72 hours before the commencement of your service. Reactive Dogs: Please note that unless otherwise stated in the service information, Scurry Dog classes and workshops are group sessions. This means that other dogs will be visible throughout the session. If your dog is anxious / nervous or reactive to other dogs or people this may not be suitable for them. Please contact us to discuss alternatives though has we love working with Spicy Dogs and will happily help you find an alternative option! hello@animalhausbehaviour.com.au Dogs + Handlers: Each dog attending will need their own individual handler. One person cannot bring along two dogs. By registering for our event you are agreeing to our Terms and Conditions of business including our Indemnity waiver.
