Why Choose Group Classes?

Group dog training classes are a great way to teach your dog manners, basic obedience and how to respond to cues and commands. They give you an opportunity to learn how to handle your dog in an environment that you need the most control, around other people and other dogs.

Why Should I Train my Dog?

The proper training of your dog will build a lasting foundation for a rewarding, lifelong friendship. DogTag Dog Training can help you acquire the knowledge and skills to train your dog to become a confident, happy and well behaved companion.

Training also provides a great opportunity to bond with your dog, to learn how to motivate them and is an excellent source of mental stimulation - an essential outlet for their energy.

Training should be fun for both you and your dog so at DogTag Dog Training we use positive reinforcement methods. Reward based training is an effective and easy to follow technique based on the sound scientific principles of learning theory. You and your dog will learn in a supportive, nurturing environment.

Where are Classes Held?

We currently run our group training classes (except our Puppy Parenting 101) at the South Hedland Primary School, Lot 2465 Weaver Place, South Hedland.

Are Classes Safe for my Puppy?

Yes they are. We have a variety of safety measures in place to ensure the health of our puppy clients this includes bleach cleaning of the painted concrete class area prior to puppy classes, all clients dipping shoes in disinfectant prior to stepping into the class zone, any puppies showing signs of illness are not permitted at class, all puppy waste is cleaned up immediately with disinfectant and puppies do not meet on leash to prevent transfer of any diseases/parasites.

DogTag Puppy Primer Class

This 6 week puppy course is ideal for puppies aged between 8-18 weeks. Class sizes are small to allow for individual attention. This course is designed to set your puppy up with a basic foundation in learning & training and prevent future problems. To get the full benefits of the course, practicing at home during the week is vital.

Avoiding common problems such as jumping up, barking, attention-seeking, hyperactivity, biting, toilet training and digging are addressed throughout the course.

During this class we will prepare you and your puppy for the real world!

Learn how to teach your puppy practical behaviours such as sit, drop, loose lead walking, leave it, mat/station, recall and much more. We will also teach you how to apply this training to real life situations such as visits to the vet, when having visitors over to your home, going out and about with your puppy to parks/beaches, when out walking your puppy, at cafes and shops, when out camping etc.

The activities we set up to help you and your puppy practice will also provide your puppy with much needed socialisation opportunities during their critical stage.

We know based on the current science that this early puppy phase is the very best time to provide your puppy with appropriate socialisation and guidance. Our classes are set up to take advantage of this critical stage and help you raise a behaviourally healthy, happy dog!

Our Puppy Primer classes are run by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer.

DogTag Canine LifeSkills 2.0 Program

This unique levels based program is ideal for dogs 16 weeks and older and caters to dogs and handlers of all experience and obedience levels. Classes are limited to 6 dogs to allow for individual attention. No prior training knowledge is required on either the part of the owner or dog. To get the full benefits of the program, practicing at home during the week is vital.

Our Canine LifeSkills program is split into 3 levels, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Each level works through a variety of behaviours, with progressive levels offering more behaviours, higher levels of distraction and tougher challenges. We have designed our curriculum this way in order to set you and your dog up for success. Providing you with a simple formula to building rock solid, reliable behaviours even under high levels of distraction.

Additionally each level provides you with the opportunity to attend multiple classes per week. This way if you cannot make a particular day, you can come on a different day, OR you can bring your dog along for several classes per week.  Currently we hold classes on Tuesday Evenings 6:15pm and Thursday Evenings 7:30pm. Further class times will be added if these sessions become busy!

Our Canine LifeSkills 2.0 runs on a 'rolling enrollment' meaning you can enroll and start ANYTIME! No need to wait, get started asap.

An added benefit of attending a group class with your dog is socialising them to other dogs and people in a safe and secure environment. This is vital to ensure a well adjusted, calm, happy dog.

This program builds a strong, working relationship between you and your dog, a dog who is a willing partner, eager to learn, and happy to work.

Additionally this program will give you the knowledge to prevent or work on common problems such as jumping up, chewing, attention-seeking, hyperactivity and digging.

**This class is not suitable for dogs who are excessively vocal, fearful or aggressive when in the presence of other dogs or people. If your dog reacts in an over excited, over the top, reactive or aggressive manner then please contact us about private lessons.**
